WIRING GE DELTA OR RANGR FOR USE WITH A PACKET TNC OR TINYTRAK 3 PLUS OR 4.

DB-9 CONNECTOR WIRING                                                    GE FRONT CONNECTOR WIRING

Pin 1 – transmit audio                                                             Pin 9

Pin 2 – Carried Detect (required for TT to work)                    Pin 12 (CAS, goes high with open squelch)

Pin 3 – PTT                                                                              Pin 11

Pin 4 – not used                                                                      xxxxxxxxx

Pin 5 – Rx audio                                                                       Pin 7 (full high discriminator audio)

Pin 6 – ground                                                                         Pin 38, 5, 21

Pin 7 – 12+  (required for TT to work, KPC3 option)               Pin 37

Pin 8 – not used                                                                      xxxxxxxxx

MUST INSTALL SQUELCH CONTROL POT AND CONNECT HIGH AUDIO TO SQUELCH

Connect 10k pot ends to GE pin 6, pin 7

Connect squelch wiper to GE pin 15

Connect GE pins 7 and pin 8 using a .1mfd cap ( this gives full high audio to the squelch circuit)

GE ADJUSTMENT

Connect any antenna and set on frequency with no signals, connect a volt meter to pin 2 / ground, adjust squelch pot back and forth and see voltage jump high and low (approx  8v / 0). Leave adjustment where voltage goes low (closed squelch). THIS ADJUSTMENT ONLY DETERMINES WHEN CAS TURNS ON / OFF. IT DOES NOT HAVE ANY EFFECT ON THE RECEIVE AUDIO ON GE PIN 7 (which will always be on high).

TT ADJUSTMENT

RECEIVING

TT 3 and TT4 – program CD to inverted (this is CD high with open squelch)

TT3 set internal TT squelch pot mid way and leave it alone. (yellow light should be out with no signals)

TT4 set internal TT squelch pot until yellow light goes off. NOTE – procedure is different betweenTT3 and TT4

TEST by keying up any transmitter on frequency and see yellow light go on.

TRANSMITTING

TT3 and TT4 will not generate enough audio to get proper deviation. On TT4 there are 2 holes (JP10); install a jumper to bypass resistor  R 6 (220k).  TT3 does not have jumper holes; put a jumper across  R5 (220k) on back of PCB.

TT3 and TT4 adjust modulation pot for deviation that sounds like other packet stations. Pot will be approximately ¼ position.

NOTE – if modulation is too high, remove jumper and install a resistor around 47k ohms across the 220k.
